Physical COM Port on PC - Make available to LAN?

Hi,
How do I make the physical COM Port on an XP PC available via TCP/IP:PORT on a LAN.
What I want to do is let a PHP script running on a Web Server (on the same LAN) make a SOCKET connection over the LAN to the XP PC's physical Serial Port in order to read the data directly from that Serial Port.
Many thanks for any help!
